Tina Rasmussen, Ph.D.—President and Founder

Tina RasmussenDiversity Mosaic founder Tina Rasmussen, Ph.D., has been a pioneer in the field of diversity and inclusion for more than 20 years. She is as an author, consultant, teacher and coach who helps people live their highest values and aspirations to create healthy, thriving organizations. Her clients range from small non-profits to some of the world’s largest organizations, including the Fortune 100’s Levi Strauss and Nestle Foods, and America’s largest human service non-profit, the YMCA. She has stewarded multi-year diversity initiatives affecting tens of thousands of employees and millions of customers. She has coached CEOs, lead diversity teams, and conducted training for all types of groups from boards of directors to shop floor employees. She has also provided shadow consulting to diversity champions and change agents in establishing their own initiatives.

Tina has spent her career advocating for human dignity and establishing humanistic business practices both in the United States and abroad. She personally oversees the start-up of all Mosaic engagements. Dr. Rasmussen’s books are considered foundational in the field of diversity and are being used by more than 10,000 diversity champions worldwide. She is the author of three books—Diversity Mosaic: The Complete Resource for Establishing a Successful Diversity Initiative (Jossey-Bass 2006), Diversity: The ASTD Trainer’s SourceBook (McGraw-Hill 1996), and Organizational Integrity (UMI, 1998)—and has contributed to four anthologies with thought leaders such Warren Bennis, Peter Senge, and Margaret Wheatley.

Dr. Rasmussen completed her Ph.D. at the Fielding Institute on what helps organization “walk the talk” of their values. She has guest lectured at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business MBA Program, and has been a speaker at conferences for national organizations such as The Conference Board, The American Society of Training and Development, the OD Network, Business for Social Responsibility, and the Greenleaf Center for Servant Leadership. She has also appeared on television and is listed in Who’s Who of International Women.

Janet Winters Smith, MA., MS.

janet winters smithJanet's more than sixteen years of experience working for a Fortune 50 company includes overseeing a large global diversity initiative for six years, and ten years of experience in the areas of organizational effectiveness, high performance work teams, leadership development, diversity, mentoring and management coaching. Her strong interpersonal skills and extensive experience in improving the effectiveness of the work environment enable her to lead a wide spectrum of diversity strategies. Janet’s keen eye and big picture thinking enable her clients to leverage opportunities and ensure alignment and integration with the organization's core diversity strategies She has lead training sessions for all levels of employees and has facilitated the start up and ongoing activity of worldwide employee networks and diversity councils. She unleashes the creativity and commitment of diversity champions across the enterprise by providing inspiration, guidance and coaching support. Janet's work has taken her to several international locations including Thailand, Papua New Guinea, Australia, Russia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. She holds degrees in Sociology, Tax, and Counseling Psychology. Janet was a member of the Conference Board Council on Workforce Diversity from 2000 to 2005. In September 2004 she was honored as the Alumni of Year for her work in diversity from JFK University, and now serves on the JFK University Board of Regents. She is also on the Board of Directors for Earth Circles, a Counseling Center in Oakland, California.

A variety of affiliate consultants are available to provide specialized areas of expertise depending on the client’s needs. Each brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep passion for their work, as well as a minimum of 15 years of professional experience.
