The Diversity Mosaic™ Approach
Finally, an approach to diversity that addresses systemic
organizational change, and moves beyond the narrow scope of
race and gender quotas! Our proprietary approach is based
on Dr. Tina Rasmussen’s books, Diversity Mosaic:
The Complete Resource for Establishing a Succesful Diversity
Initiative (soon to be released by Jossey-Bass / Pfeiffer)
and the well-known Diversity: The ASTD Trainer's Sourcebook
(McGraw-Hill) which has been used by more than 10,000
diversity champions across North America and abroad. Our simple,
results-oriented process overcomes the limitations of many
approaches that ignore the business benefits of diversity
and can cause backlash by generating an “us versus them”
mentality.
For diversity change efforts to work everyone needs
to see the benefit, including white men who occupy the majority
of leadership positions. Diversity needs to be inclusive,
valuing our unique differences and the common ground
we share. The Diversity Mosaic approach overcomes this by
positioning diversity as a key business strategy that enables
your organization to maximize the benefits of current societal
trends. It helps people see diversity as a bottom line issue
that enhances team productivity and customer satisfaction.
Mosaic’s unique, copyrighted approach:
- Positions diversity as a bottom line strategy
to enhance team performance and customer satisfaction
- Minimizes backlash by providing benefits for
everyone to value diversity
- Uses self-discovery processes which emphasize inclusion
rather than differences which divide us
- Provides a comprehensive six step process to establish
lasting organizational change
Proven Effectiveness and Measurable Results
The diversity advisory board of a Fortune 50 company had
these results after just one year:
- A comprehensive strategy was endorsed by senior management
- Climate studies showed improvements in the organizational
culture
- The company gained a reputation for diversity, attracting
new employees
- The CEO and officers demonstrated active commitment by
participating in workshops with employees
- Reluctant participants gave feedback that sessions helped
them see tangible business benefits
- A ground swelling from employees resulted in diversity
celebrations
- Measurable results were demonstrated, in the
organizational culture, external reputation, and customer
and employee representation demographics
Another well-known national organization completed our six-step
process over a five-year period,and found measurable
results after using this approach.
Nationally Recognized
Training & Development magazine said the following
about one organization’s experience using this approach.
“The company has had success, due in part to a research
study used to design the diversity effort. This helped them
focus on areas that would be of the greatest benefit to the
company, and determine what language and benefits would be
most likely to generate true commitment.”
